Cameras use different levels of in-camera image editing. Compact cameras will apply more sharpening to make the image look snappy. Advance compacts are more neutral and SLR cameras tend to have minimum editing or sharpening done in the camera. Keep in mind that the camera has only limited processing power, it was not really designed to perform unnecessary editing steps. Depending at what stage the user adjustments are made in the camera will determine if the changes are degrading the image file quality or not. When using PC image editing software one can take better care not to negatively impact file quality. How does it happen that the image file are damaged? When working with JPEG files one should always work on a copy and not the original. The JPEG format further compress the file every time it is saved therefore degrading the file.I also made a video for a preview of 2012 Canon G13 camera, please take a look and let me know what you think.

If a digital camera?s black and white setting doesn?t produce good quality photographs, you can still produce them with a few extra steps. Take the photo using the camera?s normal color settings, then use the camera?s editing software to turn the photo into black and white on your computer. Computer software allows a photographer to alter a picture?s contrast and brightness to improve the quality of black and white photos. Because shadow and light play such a key role in the effect of black and white photography, two pictures of the same subject can create very different looks at different times of the day. Imagine the play of light through trees. The contrast between dark tree trunks and light will look very different on a sunny afternoon than on a misty morning. In both cases, however, the mood achieved with black and white photography is still powerful.

If you?ve been thinking that processing is an extra step you don?t have time for, you?re missing the point. It?s an extra opportunity to learn more, make better photos and become a better photographer. And to be quite honest, post-processing can be fun! Import your photo, sprinkle a bit of magic ?post? dust on a photo, and export something with much more life and impact.
